Achieving Self-Mastery With The Energies Of The Dhyani Buddhas

by Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
over the past few weeks
we have been provided with intensively high energies, designed to push us forward on our collective path into the Golden Age of Aquarius. This provided a lot of people with a chance to make quantum leaps in understanding how their personal emotional state and energetic vibration influence their everyday life. The year 2019 in numerology comes down to the number 12 (2+0+1+9=12), which is on one hand a master number and therefor inviting us to achieve mastery of our personal energies, but it also adds up to the number three (1+2=3) – the vibration of sensitivity for self and others and authentic expression our care for this world. I have shared more insides in my article The Spiritual Impact That The Year 2019 Is Collectively Creating “.
Another detail that helps us put the bigger picture together these days is consciously working with angelic guidance, which will be intensively high this year. How it works I explained in “Achieving Self-Mastery by Documenting the Synchronicity of Number Sequences“. Because of that I am very excited to announce that from February 1st on I will be sharing the my
column THE DAILY ANGEL with more advice from the angelic realms. DON’T FORGET TO SIGN UP RIGHT HERE, on the right sidebar of my homepage, to get the information delivered into your mailbox every morning!

One of the strongest representatives for inner balance we can find in the realms of the Ascended Masters are the Five Dhyani Buddhas. Each of them represents a different part of enlightening our consciousness through self initiated spiritual transformation.

See for yourself what we can learn from them:
The Vairocana Buddha:
His name means: the embodiment of light. He is also known as the primordial Buddha or the supreme Buddha. His representation is the unification of all strengths the Dhyani Buddhas are providing for us. He is of highest moral discipline. He represents the wisdom of emptiness, and at the same time absolutely everything. Working with his energy field allows us to let go of ignorance and delusion, naturally leading us to true wisdom. His position in the wheel of Dharma is the center. His color is white, representing the union of all colors.

Buddha Vairocana Mantra:
Om vai ro ca na hum
Om Vairocana  hum

The Akshobhya Buddha:
His name means: the immovable one. He is also known as the ultimate joy. His representation is the power of purification. His commitment to the transformation of lower vibrations to highest virtues, is documented in the Vajrayana Buddhism. Working with his energy field allows us spiritual reincarnation in the inner fire of the higher heart. His position in the wheel of Dharma is the east. His color is blue, representing his devotion to the divine blueprint.

Buddha Akshobhya mantra:
Namo bhagavate Akshobhaya, tathagatayarhate samyaksambuddhyaya.
Tadyatha: Om kamkani kamkani.
Rochani rochani. Trotani trotani.
Trasani trasani. Pratihana pratihana.
Sarva karma paramparanime sarva sattvanancha svaha. The Amitabha Buddha:
His name means: the infinite light. He is also known as the Amida Buddha or Amita. His representation is the beauty of divine mercy and unconditional love. He is of highest perception for the divine, and pure in his kind gentleness. Working with his energy field allows us to develop deep compassion for ourselves and all other beings on earth. His position in the wheel of Dharma is the west. His color is red, representing the infinite power of love.

Buddha Amitabha Mantra:
Om ah me dewa hrih

The Amoghasiddhi Buddha:
His name means: the infallible success. He is also known as the almighty conqueror. His representation is the accomplishment of divinely guided action. He is of highest discipline to transmit divine truth and service. Working with his energy field allows us to let go of envy and jealousy. His position in the wheel of Dharma is the north. His color is green, representing the spiritual power of the Bodhisattva path.

Buddha Amoghasiddhi Mantra:
Om Amoghasiddhi Ah

The Ratnasambhava Buddha:
His name means: the jewel born one. His representation is the abundance of the minds possibilities. He is of highest generosity. Working with his energy field allows us to let go of greed and pride, leading us to develop a profound understanding of equality. His position in the wheel of Dharma is the south. His color is yellow, representing the fertility of our earthly life.

Buddha Ratnasaṃbhava Mantra:
Om Ratnasambhava Tram

Dhyani Buddha Prayer:
To you, who are from the holy realm of truth,
from which there is no return into creation,
I pray to the Dhyani Buddha’s true being.

Granted me perfect control of the transmission of consciousness.
In this splendid, heavenly, divine kingdom,
let me reach the unchangeable state
of the Dharma Kaya.Dear Ones, I hope this collection of information on the Dhyani Buddhas balancing powers and the importance they can have for us in this powerful year 2019 has inspired you. I hope the Mantras included will lead you to an understanding of the sound pattern and vibrations of the divine within your own existence and support your awakening.

The Dhyani Buddhas And Their Balancing Influence For Us

How Authentic Forgiveness Can Change The Impact Of Cause And Effect In Life

 by Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
I somehow feel like collectively we are all together huffing and puffing thru one big intensive wave of awakening energy after the other, since the very beginning of this year full of power for new creations and new beginnings. Last month Virgo Full Moon has brought up the chance for many people, to confront themselves with their anger issues and to understand the difference between a healthy expression of anger and a destructive one.
When we are brave enough to confront ourselves with the rather uncomfortable feelings like anger, frustration, irritation, or victim-hood ideas – than they can guide us to higher actions which are more authentic to our truth. Every single time we climb another level of consciousness, we are invited to look back thru our past and forgive ourselves as well as others, what ever was out of sync with the divine laws that are ruling our life’s. This act than transforms the impact of our actions and softens the payback ;-).

Most people are aware of “the law of cause and effect”, which is originally known as the hermetic principle of correspondence. In the Bible this divine law is mentioned as “As you sow, so shall you reap”. The law states that whatever energy we send out into the Universe, will over time, in a transformed but equal form of impact, come back to us.

Which means in essence, the principle teaches us about the return of our actions to our own door! So how does cause and effect turn into Karma in our lives? The expression Karma is a Sanskrit word for “action”, which refers to the cause in this principle. Newton realized a long time ago, that within the blueprint of our universe, ‘every action must have a reaction’. That is what creates the effect. What ever we decide to think, speak or do in this world, initiates a force that will create a reaction accordingly to the energy we have send out.
The law states: Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to the divine laws; miracles, kismet, synchronicity and good or bad luck are nothing, but names for this law when not recognized correctly.

How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.
Wayne W. Dyer

Violence does, in truth, recoil upon the violent, and the schemer falls into the pit which he digs for another.
Arthur Conan Doyle

The law is simple. Every experience is repeated or suffered till you experience it properly and fully the first time.
Ben OkriThe Ascended Master Kuan Yin or Kwan Yin is known as the Goddess of forgiveness and divine mercy. Her divine qualities are compassion, kindness, fertility, health and magic. She is patron of the children and of the helpless beings here on earth. In China she is also known as the goddess of great mercy, great pity, salvation from misery, salvation from woe, the embrace of thousand arms and thousand eyes. She is a Bodhisattva, an Enlightened One, who refused to enter the divine realms and vowed instead to stay in the earthly realms until all living beings are free from suffering and ready to reach enlightenment.

Morning Affirmation
Goddess within me,
God around me,
Spirit throughout me,
I will complete this day
In balance and love.

Kuan Yin Mantra
OM MANI PADME HUM (3-11x)
(Phonetic pronunciation: OM MAH-NEE PUD-MAY HOOM
Translation: OM! Hail to the jewel in the heart of the lotus!)

Kuan Yin Invocation
Mother of Love and Compassion
Bestow your wisdom upon me
Help me see humanity through your eyes
Help me master the love and compassion
that you hold near your heart of Gold
Help me shine like a beacon in the night
and see my reflection in your tear of love
Kuan Yin I thank you for your tireless love,
your patience and hope for humanity
Amen

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
Mahatma Gandhi

We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.
Martin Luther King, Jr.Dear ones, I hope this insides, the prayers and Mantra will be helpful for you, in case you are in need of tools on your path to self-liberation thru the power of forgiveness. If you are already used to work with the power of the violet flame and the force of the Ascended Master Saint Germain – just keep going!! He is the Chohan (leader) of the divine violet ray and has the capacity to unite all the colors abundant expressions for you.
Love and Successful Alchemy!

How To Be Guided By Ancient Instincts While Detaching From Survival Fears

by Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
in my last post about the upcoming Aries New Moon influence, which will be peeking on March 27th or 28th depending on your location in the world, I shared that one of the challenges we might have to face because of this Moon’s energy field is coming from a cardinal T-Square. This strong stellar constellation, which is playing out between the forces of Pluto, Jupiter and Uranus, was designed to trigger and bring up quite deep fears as well as our resistance to change and evolve right now.
A  friend of mine, who was listening to my interview on “The Spiritual Voice” about the current energy movement, the other day reminded me that I had explained especially the difference between the self-empowering, ancient strength that our animal instincts bare; and our personal reaction pattern, that we have created around our personal survival fears.

A clarification of particularly the difference between such a healthy heightened awareness and the fear of survival, you can find around the 15 minute mark on the audio tape. Sometimes the differentiation between the animal side and the spirit side can get quite muddled and I than its confusing for our emotional body.

http://thespiritualvoice.com/current-energetic-movement-edith-boyer-telmer-0123/

To put it simply, the lizard brain is purely concerned with survival.
Stephen Richards

When your own life is threatened, your sense of empathy is blunted by a terrible, selfish hunger for survival.
Yann Martel

The continuation of man’s life is more attributable to his fear of death than it is to his desire to live. As a matter of fact, in countless cases, it is attributable to only the former.
Mokokoma Mokhonoana

A tingling in her spine warned her the path that lay ahead was dangerous, but her curiosity placated her, driving her onward against her instincts.
Kayla Krantz

Every time I’ve done something that doesn’t feel right, it’s ended up not being right.
Mario CuomoA task that is immensely important for the development of the human collective as much as for each individual, is to gain awareness over the many moments of overreaction, that our wounded emotional body might still trigger in us. A favorite saying of mine is: “know what to do when a real tiger is on your heals – learn not to react, when a paper tiger wants to stop you from reaching your soul’s authentic desires!” Means – don’t let your fears stop you – instead seek to overcome what limits you!!

A practice that I have spend a long time exploring, is the us of this stellar awareness prayer. Repeating this prayer over and  over again like a Mantra, allows us to develop a feeling for the dancing starlight within ourselves. As during this Aries New Moon impact the focus is on rejuvenating our energy and re-birthing ourselves in a brand new light, this week is a specially blessed time to work with this magical tool.

STELLAR AWARENESS PRAYER
In this beautiful,
this amazing magical moment
I celebrate my oneness with the element of stellar radiance.

My physical body assimilates the rejuvenating powers
of the tantric language of light

My breath unites my physical being
with the very source of creation,
cleansing my emotional body.

My mental body releases fears,
as I understand myself as sentient
as sovereign and eternal.

Love, Peace and Oneness
are my protection.
Dear Ones, I deeply hope that the intense fire energies of this Aries New Moon are boosting your courage right now. That you are standing tall for what you believe in, and maybe even take a little extra risk to achieve lasting happiness. Allow me to close this piece with a quote from Oscar Wilde. “Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
Love and Courageous Blessings!

Why We Need To Have Strong Believes And Keep Our Mind Open

open-mindby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
many of you, who are reading my posts on regular base, know me as a person of strong believes and full of faith for the unfolding of the Golden Age of Aquarius. Born in the star sign Aquarius, I am used to receiving visions that are reaching far out in “time”; and born as the Mayan sign E or EB – The Road, I am supposed to understand the design of the path that collectively gets us there. So most of the time my inner clarity combined with my personality, lead me to strong opinions and a feeling of personal stability.
Now that it a really good place to be in life and it feels perfectly harmonic to live the life I created for myself; and it is a dangerous place for any human being to stay and get lazy in relying on opinions and values build long ago. And this is where open-mindedness is coming into the game. The more we are “oh so sure” in our own world, the more we need people from other countries, religions, ethical backgrounds and opposite life path’s to keep us wide and receptive. And this is a crucial trait to let our mind sour.

The ability for open-mindedness is defined as a continuing receptiveness to new ideas and controversial perspectives. It is closely relate to our ability to express emotional intelligence in our exchanges with others. People who live open-mind in everyday life, will rather show a tendency to be interested and respectful to believes very unfamiliar to themselves. They will maybe even express their gratitude for the possibility to be changed by the views and different knowledge the other shared.

For the spiritual seeker it might even go as far as an openness to allow each of this challenging new thoughts, to rattle our life and enrich our ability to embrace humanity in its endless extensions. After all we can create from every encounter in our life, a new sacred geometry of higher understanding in our energy body. That is not always a comfortable process, but than we need to remember that “life begins at the end of our comfort zone”!!

So lets see what wise men over the ages had to say about the advantages of living life with an open mind:
“Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
George Bernard Shawc“Always be respectful and open-minded when listening to another man’s beliefs. What you reject today could be your mantra tomorrow. Man’s evolution is all about transformations. An unexpected experience you have one day can change you forever.”
Suzy Kassem

“The thing is, it’s very dangerous to have a fixed idea. A person with a fixed idea will always find some way of convincing himself in the end that he is right”
Atle Selberg

“If someone is able to show me that what I think or do is not right, I will happily change, for I seek the truth, by which no one was ever truly harmed. It is the person who continues in his self-deception and ignorance who is harmed.”
Marcus Aurelius

“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.”
Albert Einstein

“Begin challenging your own assumptions. Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in awhile, or the light won’t come in.”
Alan Alda

“A mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work if it is not open.”
Frank Zappa

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.”
Mark Twain

“It is never too late to give up your prejudices”
Henry David Thoreau

“The only way to change someone’s mind is to connect with them from the heart.”
Rasheed OgunlaruaDear Ones, I hope you feel inspired right now to challenge yourself to as many mind altering experiences and encounter, as you possibly can allow without loosing your stability in life. Go step by step, be kind to yourself – there are days where we can handle big steps and others for small simple adjustments. Allow me to end this article with a quote from John Maynard Keynes “When my information changes, I alter my conclusions. What do you do, sir?”
Open minded blessings!

Energetic Support For Healthy Traveling

by Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
the big holiday season is approaching and I am sure many of you are just as excited as I am, to be on the road again. There is so much to see and discover this magical world and as Buddha sad, we should go ones the year to places we have not been before ;-). So many of us will find themselves on an air plain, a bus or train, traveling to our families and beloved once. Many of us also will feel the conditions of traveling (many people, loud noises, unstable energy field, constant chatter, small spaces,…) as challenging and maybe a bit stressful. So it is a wise move, when we are aware of this challenges and start preparing our nervous system already a week or two ahead. That way we can experience our transitions more smoothly. Here is a list of 9 steps, how to prepare yourself energetically and make your travels more comfortable. Train yourself a little bit (at least to sound and smell), and it will help you keep your personal energy field stable and strong.

Dear Ones, New Beginnings will be closed from June 1st till September 4th! In this time I will be posting my articles rather sporadically, expecting to pick up the daily service after that period! If you resonate with my articles and are used to find my work  shared in a Facebook group, rather sign up on my newsletter here to make sure you get the information!!!

1.) Create a Personal Ritual
A ritual is an everyday action, that by intention and repetition is transformed into a sacred act. It can involve the same tools every time, or can be created freely every time it is performed. This conscious charge gives the ritual the power to help you center your energy, recharge your batteries from the source of your inner light or divine connection, and gather your emotions into your physical body – so you can clearly feel what is yours and what is other peoples feeling world. The following steps summon up how it goes.

2.) Train your Senses
First thing to do is choose a smell that you like and that supports you calm down. Either you have a favorite smell already, or you can go for a well known system like Bach Flowers, aura soma, or angel essences. Well known flowers to calm the human nervous system are lavender, chamomile and cedar-wood.     Just make sure to already take your traveling conditions in account. That what you choose is available in a small liquid portion or a paste. Next choose a chair in your household, that creates a sitting position closest to your traveling situation. Sit on this chair every day for at least 5 minutes, close your eyes and meditate, deeply take in your favorite smell and train yourself to relax into this two steps.c3.) Train Conscious Breathing
When after 3-4 days the sitting position is not an obstacle for relaxation anymore and the smell starts becoming familiar, add conscious breathing to the mix. Our breath is truly the most amazing tool mother nature has build into our physical bodies. How we breath, how deep we take everything in, how easy we let go of the breath, and how much we can consciously allow ourselves to let go with it… is in my eyes – the definition – of the free will of every human being. The chance to be responsible in our respond to the world, from the first breath to the last. If you are not used to meditate, pick a breathing technique you are comfortable with and start today!!

4.) Prepare yourself a Playlist:
Indigo Children and Highly Sensitive People tend to react stronger to vibrations than the collective does. Usually they are deeper touched and more likely to feel intensively moved by beautiful music and art. Knowing that much, we can use this everyday challenge for our advantage when traveling. The first item on your list should be your favorite meditation music. But prepare yourself, apart from that, also a nice playlist of smoothing and maybe even transcending music. Above the clouds is a wonderful place to channel your spirit and enjoy a bath in divine light ;-)…

5.) Have a Protection Crystal with you:
When you by a Crystal who has strong characteristics to shield energies and for protection, best is first to clean it. You don’t know what your little friend has already gone true i this world. Simple wash it with the intention and focused awareness, to clean and empty it from the past. Black Tourmaline is an excellent example for a strong protection stone. It helps keeping judgment out of your energy field (the stylish Lady who thinks you under-dressed in your favorite jogging pants, the neighbor unhappy about traveling with children,…) and psychic attacks (aggressive or hate vibrating and consciously directed).

6.) Medical Liquid for your hands and feet:
Many Indigo’s and Highly Sensitive people, especially when in any way involved in healing arts, have their hand and/or their feet chakras constantly open. And many who are effected, are not aware of this fact. What does it mean you might ask? It means that many of us pick up other peoples energies by touching the same handle at the airport, the same toilet seat on the bus, the same security pole in the underground even… you get the picture. And the same for the feet!! So buy yourself a bottle of Medical Liquid like the doctors use before operations and clean your hands and feet as often as you think of it, simple by rubbing it into the skin. You can support the cleansing with your mind, by repeating a simple Mantra like “i let go of everything that is not mine”.images7.) Prepare yourself for the Mind Control:
Before you actually enter a Central Bus Station, Train Station and in particular an Airport, make yourself aware of what kind of system you are entering. All this places are designed to transport as many people as possible, in as short time as possible, from place A to place B. But not only, they are also designed to do that with the highest security possible and the highest control over who is going where. So you can imagine that an energy field of control, limitation, judgment, restriction and general fear is hanging over this kind of places. All energies Indigo’s and High Sensitive people are highly sensitive to and easily effected by. Simple making yourself aware of that fact, already helps navigate the situation with more grace and ease.

8.) Use waiting phases for Meditation:
While we are traveling there is so much time that literally just needs to pass by, so we can get from A to B. So many hours of valuable lifetime, that we need to wait in airports and waiting halls, time that can be used for inner connection and calming interaction with the higher-self. If you have done the chair exercise from step 2, than it should be possible for you to zoom into the inner world, when the outside world gets to crowded and noisy. Just look for a quirt corner, plug in your Earphones, start the meditation music, close your eyes, and concentrate on your breathing. You will see that this way not only your travel experience will feel more smooth, but also the waiting time will seam shorter.

9.) Touch your body:
If  it should happen that with all the holding on to your bags, taking care of the kids, following instructions from the security people and still knowing where your passport is, you forgot to do any of the above mentioned steps – thank take the emergency excess right now. Find an empty toilet, sit down and touch your body centimeter by centimeter, breath deeply and aware, maybe even make sounds if needed (you can quietly hum, that brings your energy into the body and releases stress at the same time) . That will bring you fully back into your physical body and ground your energy.

10.) Use your Tools:
This last one is the easiest and the hardest to do. Use your tools! Think of what it is you really need, when it looks like you get overwhelmed. Call in your Spirit Guides, breath deeply and connected, smell your favorite smell and talk to your Crystal. Do what ever it takes to bring your full awareness back into the moment, your physical body, the current situation.aDear Ones, I hope this tips will help you to bring more comfort, more relaxation and stability into your travels. That you find fun on creating yourself a personal little travel ritual and travel kit to go with it, and that where ever you go, you are safe and blessed with divine guidance.
Blessings and Love!

Knowing When To Walk Away And When To Stay In Relationships

4by Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
two days ago I shared on facebook the picture you see below, with the theme of walking away from things that threaten our peace or self-respect. The post had an extra ordinary high respond, and not only on likes and shares, but also on how many people felt triggered to respond and share their difficulties and experiences with “walking away”.
Some of you might remember that the energies of the Gemini New Moon on June 4th and 5th have triggered the release of inner oppositions within our emotional bodies, which are the source of suffering and irritation in our relationships. Many had to go thru challenging situations, in order to see where their reality does no longer match, the things they truly desire by heart and soul. So how do we know when it is time to go, and when it is better to stay?

Dear Ones, a personal message, New Beginnings will be closed from June 1st till September 4th! In this time I will be posting my articles rather sporadically, expecting to pick up the daily service after that period! If you resonate with my articles and are used to find my work  shared in a Facebook group, rather sign up on my newsletter here to make sure you get the information!!!

The first thing to make sure of is, that you truly are in a space of self-worth, self-respect and inner peace, when making the decision to cut the cores with a person in your life. If you are in a place of anger or rejection of the person or their actions, it only delays the healing of your own life!! To be successful as collective in an awakening process into the Golden Age of Aquarius, we have to end all pattern of abuse in our life, and this is where we need to be wise and see the truth as it is.
When we are able to talk to the other being involved, and we see that there is a responds in awareness, which leads to transformed actions, than there is no reason to walk out on them. More tricky it gets when we express our feelings, our needs and desire authentically, and the other one refuses to acknogladge them. Than we need dividing wisdom and a clear mind.

Because when we can see people, their actions and also the situations we create with them – with wide open eyes, do the work of transforming our own emotions that we dedect and than still see and feel the need to walk away – than that’s what we should do. And don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that being aware of the breaking point of old pattern automatically makes it easy to actually make the step, but it still is what we have to do if we desire to grow. That can create fears, insecurity, doubts and bring up feelings of rejection and isolation from childhood or past life impacts, so we are well of to have some handy tools to navigate the emotional waves.1 (2)One of the most powerful sources of comfort and inner strength that we can work with, when we feel the fear of loss creeping up our spine and just want to turn around running back to the status quo, is the Ascended Master Arya Tara. She is one aspect of the big Tara, a Buddhistic Bodhisattva, an Enlightened One, who serves humanity with the quality of our inner sanctuary. The inner temple every being caries in their higher heart, the place where world peace, oneness and authentic bliss emerge from.

The main Mantra for all Tara Figures is this Tara Mantra in Sanskrit:
oṃ tāre tuttāre ture svāhā – which is pronounced as..
oṃ tāre tu tāre ture soha

More directed is the Atisha prayer to Arya Tara
om, jikpa gye kyobma la chaktsal lo
Om, a tribute to her, who protects us against the eight fears

tashi palbarma la chaktsal lo
A tribute to the lady who shines with the splendor of auspiciousness

ngensong go gekma la chaktsal lo
A tribute to the one that closes the door to the lower vibrations

tori lam drenma la chaktsal lo
A tribute to the one that guides us on the way to the higher realms

taktu khye kyi dongdrok dze
You who has always watched me and has taken care of me,

dadung tukje kyab tu sol
I ask you to protect me now with your great compassion.

My other recommondation is as so often before, to work with the tranforming powers of the violet flame. Keep training your inner alchemist, and spend as much time as it takes with this inner flames, that burn for your own authentic life!!02Dear Ones, I hope sharing my experience and tools with you will be helpful for your inner process of finding the right path, decision by decision !! More than ever it is important for us to stand in clarity to our self-worth and the vibrations we have acchieved, so we can be of help for the whole of humanity and life on planet earth. Stay in touch with the earth, keep breathing deeply, make sure you feel it all – and than make a wise and authentic call!!
Blessings and Dividing Wisdom!

Supporting Our Children To Develop Faith For Their Life Path

sDear Friends,
over the last two days I shared in the posts “planting a seed of meditation and inner communion in our children” and “introducing our children to authentic spiritual expression“, steps how to talk to the next generation about prayer, meditation and developing an internal connection to the higher self. Today we are talking about purity to our path and acting on the guidelines we share.
I hope this trilogy of expects has provided lots of loving guidance, valuable insides and helpful tools for you. May they serve you well in your attempt to support your children on their path of developing a spiritual practice for themselves.
Love and Blessings!

Teaching our children and teenagers to perform obligatory prayers, is a delicate and often stressful matter for families. What is the divine guidance on the matter? When and how is it best done? Parenting expert Hina Khan-Mukhtar sheds some light.

6) “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” – Rumi
For some kids, positive sensory associations are very important in creating an attachment to prayer. From a young age, my boys have taken great pride in dressing up for Jumah (Friday) prayers in their best clothes, wearing their best perfume and their best kufis (prayer hats). We always set out their most special clothes for the most special of days, and they feel noble and dignified as they wash and dress for going to the mosque on Friday afternoons. I know of one mom who created a magical “prayer corner” in her daughter’s bedroom, complete with a lace canopy that cascaded down over an intricately embroidered prayer mat and an ornate table that held a beautifully designed Quran and crystal prayer beads. Other parents regularly light sweetly scented incense or candles during prayer time in the home. One mother used to wear a silk prayer gown stamped with gold and silver block print for her night prayers; her children sometimes have compared her to a princess, other times to an angel. These are examples of kids who saw, heard, smelled, and tasted nothing but beauty and elegance when it came to prayer in their homes.l7) Aspire to be what you want them to be.
No one recognizes hypocrisy quicker than a child. The truth of the matter is that you can encourage and teach a child to pray all you want, but if you’re not going to pray, the chances are highly likely that he/she’s not going to pray either. And letting a child witness that you pray isn’t always enough either. What about how you pray? Are you rushed and distracted? Are you nonchalant if you miss the prayer? I know of an adult who remembers his own father weeping when he once missed a prayer, and that reaction made more of an impression on him about the importance of prayer than all the lectures in the world ever could.

In conclusion, I feel it’s important to confess how emotionally difficult it was for me to actually write this article. I’ve been analyzing what my hesitation was, and I realize that it was rooted in the fear that my words will come across as preachy and imbued with a sense of self-satisfaction when nothing could be farther from the truth. Another part of me worries that I will somehow jinx my family by admitting to the world that my husband and kids are regular with their prayers. I remember when I had my first son in 1997, how desperate I was to find any kind of reading material that would help motivate and guide me in teaching him the fundamentals of this beautiful tradition.

Teaching our children and teenagers to perform obligatory prayers, is a delicate and often stressful matter for families. What is the divine guidance on the matter? When and how is it best done? Parenting expert Hina Khan-Mukhtar sheds some light.

3) “If it was good enough for the Prophet, it’s good enough for me.”
When I asked Shaan why he is committed to his prayers, he said, “It was the last thing the Prophet (salallaahu alaihi wasallam) told us to hold onto; he was talking about it right up until the point he passed away. How can we ignore that? How important must prayer be if he (peace be upon him) was reminding us about it even with his last breaths?” They learned that missing a prayer just isn’t an option for anyone who has taqwa (God-consciousness).

4) Teach them what they’re saying, what they’re doing, and why.
Prayer should not be allowed to become a series of robotic yoga-like motions devoid of meaning or purpose. Zeeshan and I have been forthright with our kids and confessed to them that there will be times when prayer might feel like an inconvenient, rote duty that just needs to be discharged — and they may find themselves feeling disillusioned and disheartened when those thoughts come to them — but, nevertheless, the prayer is never to be abandoned.
We have made sure to make it clear to the kids, however, that God is not in any need of our prayers or our praise or our prostrations; on the contrary, it is we who are in need of Him. We have also emphasized that none of us should ever feel self-righteous or holier-than-thou about the fact that we are choosing to pray when others are not. “We need prayer; it’s like taking medicine that the Doctor prescribes,” I tell the boys. “Would any of us go around bragging about taking meds or look down on others because they aren’t taking the prescription that we’ve chosen to take for our own health?”Ados-pour-HAWe all know that you are only as good as the company you keep, and being in an environment where prayer is as natural as eating or drinking just helps create a new type of “normal” for the kids. My boys have grown up seeing not only their parents and their friends praying in congregation but seeing their parents’ friends and friends’ parents giving significance to prayer.

Teaching our children about the Isra and Mi’raj (Night Journey and Ascension) has been instrumental in getting them to understand how the prayer was revealed and what the different parts of the prayer mean to us on a spiritual level. The position of ruku (bowing) is compared to the way one would bow in front of a king. In the humbling position of sajdah (prostration), we point out how that is the only position in which the human heart is elevated over the human brain. It is the heart that truly knows God; it is the heart that truly recognizes Him.” The prayer will suddenly have relevance for them.

Finally, it’s really important to talk to the kids about intention. One of my favorite quotes that I like to share with the boys is a comparison of worshipers of three types — the first is the worshiper who worships out of desire for Heaven (he is like the businessman looking only for a profit); the second is the worshiper who worships out of fear of the Hell-fire (he is like the slave who wants only to avoid punishment); and the third is the worshiper who worships out of gratitude because he recognizes that Allah is worthy of worship (he is the truly free man).
“Which one are you?” we ask our sons…and then we leave them to reflect.
And we reflect on ourselves as well.

5) Set them up for success.
We recently invested quite a bit of money in some high quality khuffs (waterproof socks) for him so that he wouldn’t have to deal with the inconvenience of having to stick his foot in the sink while making wudu in the boys’ restroom at his high school. He can just wipe over his khuffs during school hours now. On Shaan’s first day as a freshman, his father and I helped him come up with talking points so that he could approach the principal with confidence when he requested a private space for prayer; we promised to have his back if he ran into any resistance.
Our “support” turned out to be unnecessary however. It’s been three years now, alhamdulillah, and the high school front office staff knows Shaan really well — he’s the kid who comes in every day during lunch to go to the conference room to pray.imagesWhile all of these gadgets and gizmos may be great to have around for convenience’s sake, the kids understand that they will have to make do for prayer — one way or the other — whether they have their prayer packs on hand or not. “Guard your prayer” is the mantra in our home.

Planting A Seeds Of Meditation And Inner Communion In Our Children

eliminate-violenceDear Friends,
in my post of the last year, I have mentioned again and again the importance of the practice of prayer and meditation, as tools to enter a space of inner communion with the higher self. I shared how easy it is to turn everyday life activities into meditation by adding mindful awareness to them; posted a study from the University of Harvard on the impact of meditation on the brain; let you know about the success Schools in San Francisco have by adding meditation to their curriculum; and most importantly, I shared how it is even scientifically proofed that group meditation can change the energetic field of the entire world. And of course in many of my pieces I mentioned the effectiveness of prayer to the energies of the Ascended Master Realms.
Nearly a year ago I ran into this wonderful article describing how to pass on a sense for cultivating commitment and bliss in our daily practice of prayer. While reading the piece I realized, that the author speaks with such a beautifully open heart and from such deep insides into human nature, that sharing her piece is of big value for many. The article is a very long one, that is why I choose to only use excepts and share the knowledge in a trilogy starting today! The guidance was originally written for Muslim parents looking for a way to introduce their kids to the intense commitment of five prayers the day, but they are just as valuable for every parent looking to give their children a feeling for meditation and a mindful lifestyle. I hope you enjoy her wonderful insides just as much as I did, and find profound guidance in her words.
Tomorrows post will be the second part, watch out for it!!
Love and Blessed Communions!
Edith

Teaching our children and teenagers to perform obligatory prayers, is a delicate and often stressful matter for families. What is the divine guidance on the matter? When and how is it best done? Parenting expert Hina Khan-Mukhtar sheds some light.

“How the heck do you get a teenage boy in public high school to care about not missing his prayer?”
It is a question that I’ve been asked more than once, and there has never been a simple, easy answer to give. The quickest and most honest one is to frankly admit that all guidance is a blessing and a mercy from God and none of us are in any real control of what our children choose to take — and not take — from our teachings.
But let’s face it — we all know that’s not what parents want to hear (even if they know it’s the truth). Parents are looking for tips and advice, some kind of handbook to follow, a checklist of do’s and don’ts. For the purposes of this article, I did sit down and reflect on what has brought us to where we are now after almost 18 years of raising sons, alhamdulillah (praise be to God). I write this article with the full knowledge that we are no experts; we are no authority figures; we are no success stories. We just happen to be parents who for whatever reason are blessed with children who choose to pray…for now.MeditatingI asked my kids what they think has helped make prayer a priority for them in their lives, and I informally interviewed some friends to get their insights as well. Here’s what has worked for our families so far, and we hope that our experiences may help others in turn, insha’Allah (God willing)…

1) For God’s sake (literally), leave those kids alone for the first 7 years!
You shouldn’t have any real expectations of them until after they are 7 years old. I still remember how I cringed when I once saw a well-meaning father pretty much forcing his 6-year-old daughter to join the congregational prayer. She kept running off, and he kept bringing her back, insisting that she fold her hands and stand silently by his side as he recited the Quranic verses aloud. His intentions were noble and sincere, no doubt, but the execution left much to be desired. It was painful to watch, and I remember hoping that his plans weren’t going to backfire on him one day. Another time, I heard a mother tell her son that “Allah will be mad at you if you don’t pray; the angels are writing down that you’re being a bad boy”, and it took all my willpower not to cry out loud, “Stop! Please don’t say that to your 5-year-old!”
What baffles most adults is trying to figure out how they are supposed to take the spiritual souls that have been placed under their care and then successfully prepare them for the lifelong duty of praying five times a day once their physical bodies have attained puberty.

In the early years, children should be allowed to join and leave the prayer at will, letting themselves get acclimated to the motions and the sensations of the ritual prayer at their own pace. Praying with the family should be an enjoyable experience — one that kids can partake in (or not) as much as they desire. Their association with prayer should be one of sweetness. I know one father who has all of his children share their duas (supplications) aloud one by one after the prayer is over so that everyone can join together in asking Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) to grant their siblings’ wishes. Once the duas are over, the kids often dissolve into tickling and wrestling matches while the father finishes up his supererogatory prayers on his own.

2) When the time for praying finally comes, go all out and make the initiation into prayer a celebration to remember! Treat it like an exciting honor, a real rite of passage.
When each of my boys turned 7 years old, I bought them beautiful journals which I gave to my friends and family to fill with inspiring messages about prayer. My parents and my in-laws each wrote messages to their grandsons, sharing their hopes and wishes for their futures with them. Older cousins wrote about how prayer helps them in good times and in bad; aunties and uncles gave advice on what helps them get through “prayer slumps” which — if we are truly honest — are bound to come in one’s life at some point or another. The general theme was one of encouragement and excitement. It’s been almost 10 years since I put together those gifts for my older two sons, and even now, I will sometimes catch them perusing their Prayer Books with smiles on their faces as they read the heartfelt messages to themselves.eZeeshan and I have found that slow and steady wins the race. When each of our sons turned 7 years old, we allowed them to choose one prayer that they wanted to take on as their daily commitment. The understanding was that — no matter what — the one prayer would never be neglected from that day (i.e. their 7th birthday) forward. If the boys wanted to pray any of the other prayers, that was all well and good, but it was their choice and we made it clear that we would not be monitoring them or holding them accountable.
Whether they were at a play date or in the middle of a shopping mall or at a swimming lesson, if the time for their prayer came in, they made sure to take a few minutes to complete it.We continued this routine for twelve months. When a year of praying one prayer on time had finally passed by successfully, we told the boys that they were now “qualified” to take on a second prayer. We treated it like an honor that only the most responsible could be trusted to handle! We told them that we were trying to teach them how to honor commitments, we knew that it took practice and discipline to do so, and we accepted that it was our job to slowly but surely teach them those tools for success. Using this method, all three of our boys were praying all five of their daily prayers by the time they were 9 1/2 years old, alhamdulillah. By age 10, prayer was an established routine.

During the course of writing this article, I asked my almost-16-year-old son Ameen why he prays all of his prayers on time, and he responded, “I don’t remember ever not praying, so I can’t imagine not doing it now. It’s a part of who I am.” My most fervent prayer is that he always feels that way. I am no fool; I know prayer is a gift and, if not treated with gratitude and humility, it can be lost at any moment. May Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) protect us from ever experiencing such a devastating void in our lives. Aameen. (Amen.)
