Understanding The Alchemy Of Conscious Breathing

bre

by Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
the intense energetic movement that the recent New Moon in Cancer with total solar eclipse has unleashed into the awakening process of the human collective is slowly fading and we are more and more able to take in the details for what has shifted for us all individually. The perfect time to regain clarity and direction from our soul’s guidance. Quite a while ago I shared a post called awakening the Inner Alchemist in which I talked about the Ascended Master Saint Germain and the violet flame of conscious transformation, he is providing as a divine quality. This flame is the representation of our capability to change and transform our momentary state of being – into a higher vibrating version of our TRUE SELF), and this fire needs your passionate breathing to stay alive and hungry.
To be more specific: the intensity in which the fire of transformation inside you is burning – depends on your conscious understanding and conscious use of your breath. The thump rule is, the deeper we dive into studying and understanding the magical alchemy that our breath provides, the more alive blissful and inter-connected we feel in our daily life. Simply breathing in and out LIFE ITSELF.

Allow me to explain a bit more about the Alchemy of Breathing. When we decide to go thru the materialization process of becoming human beings, we are in our natural state of pure light and divine bliss. Our divine spirit than spirals down true the different layer of density, what we call dimensions, and begin to form a physical body within the body of our future mother. In co-creation of existence on Planet Earth, this physical manifestation is build from the Elementscalled the platonic solids.  And here lays the surprise and most important secret…. while we are creating our bodies, and our mothers feel matter growing… all that we feel is the stat of divinely blissful, warm water.
So WATER is the first element we materialize on the planet! And that goes further… ever if we are born and our doctor is hitting our but… we still only feel water…. UNTIL we make the first conscious decision on planet earth – to take the first deep BREATH! In the millisecond we do so, it all comes together as one. Our Breath activates our awareness of being a spiritual being expressed in a physical manifestation – our body awareness and sensory self kick in, the EARTH element is born… and that activates the FIRE of LIFE and SURVIVAL….     the same fire you use when you breath in awareness, the violet flame of transformation and ascension, into your everyday life here and now.
That is the true and infinite power of you SIMPLE BREATHING. And it all happens under the supervision of the HOLY SPIRIT within. Remember to be kind and practice self-compassion, what ever is going on!!

platonic-solids-and-elements

Based on this bigger picture I think it is not hard to understand, that practicing conscious breathing helps improve our well being on a physical level. Which includes pain and symptom release for high blood pressure, migraines, headaches, anxiety, stress, chronic pain, depression, asthma, insomnia, nervousness, self-doubt, concentration loss, muscular tension, bad sleep, and that its a boost for the immune system. But also on a spiritual level we can boost our evolution, by connecting the dots in our mind – when we are in mindful breathing exercise.
Becoming aware of the way we breathe, helps us reconnect to our inner place of peace, in the most challenging situations of everyday life!! Such a simple, build in tool, and such a divine abundance of use for the collective awakening of humanity! So call on the Master Saint Germain and the violet flame for your next conscious step in your personal evolution! You can make it as easy as repeating the prayers below, while reading the text above over and over (make it 3, 7 or 9 or 13 repetitions)!! And try deep breathing the next time you find yourself reaching for a pain reliever, you are feeling stressed out, are depressed, have problems with your sleep or need a momentary extra boost of physical power!

Master Saint Germain
In the name of the mighty victorious Presence of God, the
I AM,
Christ Consciousness within me,
I call to the beloved Master Saint Germain
and the transforming powers of the violet fire

Violet Flame Prayer
I AM a being of violet fire
I AM the purity God desires.

Understanding Universal Context – The Sacred Geometry Of Yoga

yoga-ashtangaby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
quite a while ago I shared this article about the Alchemy of Conscious Breathing and how it leads us to the Golden Path of Ascension. The teachings of this Golden Path are for many known as the guidance of the second divine ray of the highways of sound and light in the universe, that transmits to us the I AM awareness of our golden Christ Consciousness. Many Ascended Master have walked that path and helped extending the powers of our divine abilities that way. One of this Masters from the Golden Ray, most important for our collective awakening process right now, is the Ascended Masters for World Peace “Surya”. Surya is a God from the Hindu tradition, a world teacher from our sister planet Sirius and representative of the Great Central Sun. His 12 names as Sun God of the Hindus, as the 12 names of the Sun Prayer Yoga Positions.
This is a direct indication that in the profound teachings behind the physical positions, there are 12 keys to ascending our physical body into higher levels of consciousness. When we today create this bridge from the energetic field of Master Surya to the physical expressions of Yoga, we also need to be aware of the shapes and shades of Sacred Geometry that our bodies are building during the exercise. An awareness that leads the Yoga practitioner from the performance of rigid movements, to the deeper layers and blessings of the Yoga Path.

This are two of Surya Messages:
“When the time of World Peace comes humanity will be lifted to new heights of vibration, by the conscious use of Music that is by mankind consciously brought into form.

“ The incoming vibrations, the Music of your Higher-Self, will provide some powerful healing to man’s emotional, mental and physical bodies”.Sac

A personal message to all my facebook friends!! FB is limiting the distribution of my posts daily more. If you resonate with my articles and are used to find my work  shared in a group, rather sign up on my newsletter here to make sure you get the information!!! Over time I might not be able to put in the FB time, if it does not lead to what it is about – SPREADING THE WORD ;-)!sThe Buddhist belief system points out that what human beings experience of “SELF”, is actually flexible, moving and ever changing. Constantly translating our divine origin into physical manifestation on planet earth, based on the process of photosynthesis, and created by the 5 Elements, known as the Platonic Solids. And this is where another Master comes in, the founder of today’s understanding of mathematics, Pythagoras. And where there is the energy field of Master Pythagoras, who uncovered the mathematical and geometrical basis for life, there is profound wisdom about sacred geometry and how it shapes, shifts and moves human life on planet earth.

In the picture above you can see the sacred shapes of the elements, in 3dimensional form. The one below shows ancient stone balls found in Oxford, in the shape of the Sacred Geometry of the Platonic Solids, which means the knowledge about the elements is around even much longer than any Yoga tradition.

Yoga practices in essence has the sense to integrate this knowledge of the multi-dimensional shapes of our inner sacred geometry, as a method of God Realization. This happens by creating thru conscious breathing a wider space in the physical body, so it can align with our light bodies higher vibration. When we now practicing the “sun salutation” cycle on a regular base, holding the awareness of all this insides in our mind while practicing, we can connect with a profound inner strength, improve our overall health and even experience Cosmic Consciousness that way.

Ashmolean-plato-solidsHere you can see which name is relate to which physical pose, and therefor what kind of energy frequency they are creating in your physical body. Be kind to yourself and don’t expect to much! Go step by step. Start of with just one part of it all. As soon as you are fluent in this part, you can start building up by adding for example the awareness of the divine Names to the mix. When this has settled in you can go on and hum, contemplate or sing the Gayatry Mantra during your conscious breathing and physical movement.

Allow me also to remind you again of the violet flame of transformation and transmutation. The Ascended Master Saint Germain and all the other representatives of the divine violet fire. Integrating the awareness of the violet flame of transformation into the flow of our practice, will increase the impact of our work even more. Be playful, give it a try and watch your divinity unfold within you!!!

I hope this steps by step guide helps you increase the effectiveness of your Yoga practice and inner work! That your understanding and inner peace may spread into your family, friendship circle and community. And that you have fun discovering the many shades and shapes of your own characters sacred geometry!! Keep breathing and have a faith in the process!

Living A Life Of Authentic Happiness & Inner Freedom

408817_225087160907637_1869227508_nby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
many of you, who are reading my posts on a regular level are aware, that as so many people with strong abilities, I have not had an easy life from the beginning on. Coming from a family quite violent in character, I was not known as a happy, balanced or free person. In times I was battling with suicidal thoughts and with depression and felt deeply separated or isolated in my inner world. Watching other people who took life quite easy and seamed not to feel as deeply as I, I wondered what it would be like to unleash my own inner happy, free and uncensored ME.
Its not that I was a child that did not speak up or did not do wild things, indeed I brought myself into situations dangerous and overwhelming all the time, but I did not feel any authentic happiness or true personal freedom coming from it. It was more about facing fears and being confronted with the dark side of life and collective human behavior. But over the years of my spiritual path I managed to connect with forces like the Ascended Master Ling and trained myself to feel happy for waking up every morning and having another chance to live!

Here is a list of things I found helpful in the creation of true authentic inner happiness:
1. Create a simple list of things that you enjoy
Modern everyday life is so full of demands on us, that often the self-care is what falls short at the end. When you write yourself a little love letter with all the simple things that make you happy and that you want to do a bit more for yourself. If you keep the list on your fridge or nightstand, you might remember more often to sweeten your life with this simple pleasures. suryanamaskar2. Move your body
Find someway of movement that makes you happy, is easy to repeat and does not need a lot of preparation to start with. For me it is dancing Salsa on my own. I love the music and the many different speeds Salsa is available in. I let the whole house vibrate from the beats and dance the basic steps thru the kitchen, living room and garden, while I am fulfilling my household tasks ;-). Or maybe you like the stretching and relaxation that you feel during a yoga practice? A quick walk in the park with deep connected breathing and conscious steps? What ever you choose, make sure to consciously store the happiness and freedom it makes you feel, so you can take it back home and sway in it.

3. Eat fresh and organic food
Our body is the vessel for our soul to come thru and express our soul into the world. If our nutrition is based on junk food and precooked foods with tons of chemicals and we don’t care to eat GMO food, we simply don’t give the body what it takes to bring forward the true spiritual being that we are. So go simple, go organic, go fresh!!! And – give your children healthy foods too!! It has to be organic not just natural, there is a labeling trick build in to the term natural!! That way your physical body can hold the light of your soul more easily, and this light is the storage for divine bliss!!

4. Practice the virtue of patience
On a spiritual level, patience represents the ability of sitting in circumstances of emotional and energetic, physical or spiritual discomfort, without complaining to the universe about it. Which means when in stress, not also freaking out about it!! Don’t rush through the day!! One of the quickest killer of happiness is rushing and losing the ability to see the many little beautiful blessings offered to us on the way!!sa5. Spend at least 15 minutes the day in the sun
Well-documented research shows there is a relationship between low vitamin D levels and poor health, such as frail bones, multiple sclerosis and prostate cancer. Our physical body needs vitamin D! And it is the sun that provides this Vitamin in the most natural form. Also, light that is hitting your skin and your eyes, helps reverse seasonal effective disorders – so think about finding a way to enjoy sunlight, especially now when the days are getting shorter and colder. Let the sunshine in, so you can shine your light back at it!!

Dear Friends, I hope my words serve you as motivation and encouragement on your personal path to authentic happiness and inner freedom!! May you create the most beautiful relationship with your inner child and allow it to lead you to the freedom of the innocent heart!!  So much can be achieved in this world, by the joyful, relaxed and lighthearted approach of the playful responsible child!!!
Blessings and True Authentic Happiness!!
Edith

More Things To Understand When You Fall In Love With An Old Soul

cby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
the other day I was send this article about falling in love with an old soul. It made me laugh as I was remembered of a time, when some new friends of mine and me came up with the idea of printing T-Shirts with the slogan “my soul is old than yours”, because we where so over the pseudo spiritual behavior some people in town showed. It was just for fun – a little insider joke – but it turned out to be true, that so many of the people involved back than where old souls.
You know, for reasons of the geographic powers and the winds at Lake Atitlan, our little place is a high powered energy vortex that attracts a lot of Indigo and Crystal Children, Highly Sensitive and Empathic Beings. And many people have incarnated with this personality traits, because they are old souls, here to support the collective awakening process of human kind into the Golden Age of Aquarius. I liked the authors voice and honesty, and I felt like adding some details to the descriptions. You find them in the orange sections. Hope you enjoy and find valuable news or confiramtions!!

1 Simplicity
It’s the simple things in life that capture us. Simple living and simple pleasures in life ground us and make us feel all warm and cozy inside. Extravagant dinners, jewelry, and sparkly gifts may be the key to some people’s hearts but not an old soul. Impressing us is so simple, it’s scary. An intimate conversation on the beach with a candle or a night of camping under the stars is like heaven on earth. Give us experiences and most of all, give us your time…
Old souls somehow seam to have a deeper feeling for the profound value that our lifetime has. As old souls are coming with an often very clear and loud vibrating soul purpose, we are stronger aware that our time and undivided attention is definitely the biggest present we can share with others. So truly being together feeds our souls with love.

2 Alone time
Old souls are pretty intense, spiritual people. It’s not a facade or front we put up, but a lifestyle we live to stay connected to ourselves and to our spiritual path. Time to decompress, detach and meditate are crucial to our well being. So if we turn down an invite to a bar once in awhile, don’t take it personal. Instead, understand our need to be with ourselves because there is probably a reason we are needing some alone time.
So many of us old souls are born as highly sensitive people, empathic people or introverts and this personality traits make us more vulnerable to peoples energies. So when there are big shifts going on and people are unstable in their emotions, we sometimes have to retreat. Because not only do we need alone time to stay connected to ourselves, we need it to not fall sick.
xz3 Dreamer
As most people only dream when they sleep, we dream constantly. Daydream that is. Sometimes we need a partner to snap us back into reality, but also one who understands our dreaming is what excites us, dreaming inspires us.
But that is not all it does for us, many old souls are actually very capable dream creator. That mean while we are laying lazy at the beach, dreaming pretty things for life, we have the capacity to channel the energetic vibration this dream creates into our personal energy field. Later on in life this things become easily reality for us. The more we are aware of this process, the deeper the results.

4 Romantics
ahh, sigh– We love romance and everything that comes with it. Sometimes, expecting a little too much from people trying to win our affections. This can cause some let downs and learning experiences for both partners. Old souls need someone that can pull them out from the clouds when needed and bring them back to a beautiful reality.
Well here we are not quite aligned with our opinions. While I can totally confirm, that most of the old souls I met are really big romantics (even that the way they show it is often received as weird and sometime awkward), I do not agree on needing the other to come back to reality. As old souls our collective job is to grow up fast and take personal responsibility. So it is on us to learn to feel romance, while we have our feed well rooted in the ground!!

5 Comfort
I’ve always felt like the “grandma” of my friend group. Throwing on a big comfy sweater, staying in to cook dinner, and snuggling up while someone reads to me would be like, so amazing. Going out is good here and there, but know for us, being comfy with our significant other takes the cake.
In my experience feeling comfortable with somebody else is not only limited to physical relaxation. For an old soul it is mainly important, that we feel emotionally and energetically safe with the other. As our sensitivity demands from us during the day, to be on our toes not to get overwhelmed by other peoples feelings, it is double important for us to have people at home who act self-responsible with their own challenges. ,,6 Free birds
We want freedom. Freedom to chase whatever is worth chasing to us. Nothing holding us back or stopping us from pursuing our dreams and desires. Rather, someone who encourages us to chase and to succeed. Aside from longing for a stable and simple life, we want room to grow and follow whatever path our spirit is leading us to.
That does not mean we are not capable of deep commitment or faithfulness in our love relationships, just about the opposite. Give an old soul the unlimited space to explore their own being, and they will be totally yours. And they will always come running back to you like happy children, excited to share their story and feelings with you.

7 An unusual approach to life
Not really conforming to the expected way of living, we view the world and our lives as a blank book and we want to write it. I definitely have very philosophical views and it deeply effects all of my relationships. Being with someone who likes that about us is key!
And it is literally build into our brain. Like I sad before, so many old souls are Indigo’s or Crystals and this people have a brain that is differently weird than the collective. That makes perfectly sense within the bigger plan, as we are supposed to be the ones who are dreaming the Golden Age of Humanity into reality, as our collective job!!

8 Not-so material world
Possessions and money are nice, but it is not number one for us. Intellectual conversations and meaningful experiences is what takes our breath away…
By all means, deep connection, honest exchange and gentle communication is more important to old souls than goods, but the world is also a material one. And as we are mostly occupied with rooming around in the energetic realms but still take care of the material, it is equally important not to be with a partner that brings either financial insecurity or a state of “having too much” into the mix!!enlightened_universe_final9 Intuition
You may hear this a lot from an old soul, “I don’t know, I just have this feeling.” Following our hearts more than our minds makes us a bit more in touch with our intuitive side. You can either go with the flow or turn and run, intuitive people can be a bit intimidating. It can be very daunting to some, to have an intuitive partner…especially if the significant other is trying to be sly. Good luck!
And there I think is self-responsibility the most important thing to be aware of!! Personally I have not met an old soul that can be in a true love relationship with a person who is trying to play false or has second agendas. Like I mentioned above, we need to feel safe with the once we share our life with, and people who are dishonest make us go out of balance!! So if want to love an old soul, be brutally honest with them! And if you are an old soul, don’t betray your intuition for a cozy moment on the sofa!! Be patient and true to yourself, and the right someone will come!!

10 We’ve got dreams, big dreams
Idealistic dreams of painting the world like our very own canvas. Ending world hunger or starting a business that benefits people in some positive way is not far from an old souls list of lofty ideas. Helping mankind is on our dreamy To Do List!
Just that they are no random dreams, but the soul contracts we made to be part of the collective awakening process of human kind. So many of the people who are now in their mid 20s to mid 30s are truly the once who will change this world!!

Dear Ones, I hope this insides into the inner world of old souls has given enough information to either identify yourself as such, or identify your partner, friends, family members as such! If you find one or the other of your clan members being an old soul, than this words might give you more clarity about what your beloved ones truly need.
Blessings and Old Soul Love!  Edith

Yoga Practice & The Peace Master Surya

BUDDHA_HOME_by_VISHNU108by Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
in yesterdays post about the co-operation of the current Ascended Masters for World Peace, I mentioned that Master Surya is a Teacher from our sister planet Sirius. The planet often spoken of as the Great Central Sun. Therefor, apart from his role as peaceful leader, Master Surya is in the Hindu tradition also known as one of the 108 manifestations of “The Sun God”. When we today create the bridge from the energetic field of Master Surya to the physical expression levels of Yoga, allow me more than ever to remind you of the Alchemy of Conscious Breathing! An awareness that leads the Yoga practitioner from the performance of rigid movements, to the deeper layers and blessings of the Yoga Path.
In Hindu teachings Surya is considered the only visible form of God, that can be SEEN in the abundant colors of every days life. Surya is our connection to the radiant white light of the “source of life itself”. The Buddhist belief system points out that what human beings experience of “SELF”, is flexible, moving and ever changing. Translating our divine origin into physical manifestation on planet earth, is based on the process of photosynthesis. In this, the physical bodies of human beings are no exception. This awareness gives us access to the powerful “build in tool” of consciously approaching an internal process of Alchemy, by excepting the many blessings of the sun. To practicing the “sun salutation” cycle on a regular base, will connect you with inner strength and improve your overall health. In the Hindu tradition this is widely known as the ancient system of yoga exercises called “Surya Namaskara”.
In the pictures below you can see which Mantra is relate to which pose, and therefor what kind of energy frequency they are creating in your physical body. Be kind to yourself and don’t expect to much! Go step by step. As soon as you are fluent in this part, you can start building up by adding the awareness of the divine Names to the mix. When this has settled in you can go on and hum, contemplate or sing the Gayatry Mantra during your conscious breathing and physical movement.

I wanna remind you again of the violet flame of transformation and transmutation. The Ascended Master Saint Germain and all the other representatives of the divine violet fire. Depending on what your current inner theme is, they are there to help us excess profound dimensional layer to the magical “Work in Progress”, that a spiritual practice is. We need to stay focused and work with perseverance on all the feelings that are coming up, embracing what is there, and than allow it to change…so we can move on from it!
I hope this steps by step “sunshine and bliss manifestation guide”, helps you increase the effectiveness of your Yoga practice and inner work!  That you find others to create your version of a peacefully Golden Age of Humanity. The Alchemy of Conscious Breathing – The Golden Path of Ascension

breby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
do you remember my post about awakening the Inner Alchemist? In this article I talked about the Ascended Master Saint Germain and the violet flame of transformation, he is providing as his divine quality. This flame is the representation of the sacred inner fire of Alchemy (our capability to change and transform our momentary state of being – into a higher vibrating version of our TRUE SELF), and this fire needs your passionate breathing to stay alive and hungry. To be more specific: the intensity in which the fire of transformation inside you is burning – depends on your conscious understanding and conscious use of your breath. And, the more profound your understanding of the Magic and Alchemy your own breath is providing, the more alive, blissful and inter-connected it makes you feel – to simply breath in and out LIFE ITSELF.

So allow me to explain a bit more about the Alchemy of Breathing.
And it all happens under the supervision of the HOLY SPIRIT within.

platonic-solids-and-elementsBased on this bigger picture I think it is not hard to understand, that practicing conscious breathing helps improve our well being on a physical level.

IMG_0133In general there is not “one correct way” of breathing. There are particular breathing techniques for yoga, for power walking, for swimming, a proper breathing for martial arts, a technique for taichi, playing the trumpet requires different breathing than singing does, and so on. You get my point! Anyway, here are four techniques you can give a try – in case you don’t have a favorite version jet!

#1: to practice in a private environment

  • Sit cross-legged in a dark, quiet room.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Using your thumb, cover up your right nostril, and breathe deeply through your left nostril for a count of 6.
  • Pause for a count of 2.
  • Remove your thumb, and cover your left nostril with your forefinger, and exhale completely through your right nostril for a count of 6.
  • Repeat 10 to 15 times.

#2: to practice in public spaces

  • Close your eyes if you can.
  • Inhale through your nose evenly and deeply for a count of 8.
  • Pause for a count of 3.
  • Exhale completely through your nose for a count of 8.
  • Pause for a count of 3.
  • Repeat 10 to 15 times.

#3: to help you fall asleep

  • Keeping your eyes closed, and lying flat on your back in bed, deeply inhale through your nose for a count of 6.
  • Pause for a count of 3.
  • Slowly exhale completely through your nose for a count of 6.
  • Pause for a count of 3.
  • Deeply inhale through your nose for a count of 8.
  • Pause for a count of 3.
  • Exhale completely through your nose for a count of 8.
  • Repeat steps, each time increasing the count by two until you stretch your breath out for as many counts as you can—try to get to 12! Once you’ve done this, repeat 10 times.

#4: for deep relaxation

For even deeper relaxation, try focusing on an affirmation during your inhales and exhales. Think the words “I” on your inhale and “AM” , can, do, feel, (what ever works for your situation – be creative!!) …. on your exhale….. Keep doing that for 3-5minutes and deeper layer can open from inside.BreathI hope this steps help to make you feel safe and confident while going thru the intense waves of our collective changes these days!! Remember to be kind and practice self-compassion, what ever is going on!! And allow your breath to guide you to a beautiful “deeper connection” with your true “higher self”! Above as below..  Keep breathing and have a little faith in yourself!!!  Blessings an Love!

Harvard Study Unveils What Meditation Literally Does To The Brain

48
Dear Friends,
I totally love it when we have a confirmation by science over the effect of spiritual experiences, so many people share on the planet. The past shows, that it is easier for the human collective to believe in something, when it first found acceptance on a scientific level. So it is with this study from the University of Harvard an the practice of meditation. Hope you enjoy the read and a lovely Sunday!
Love and Blessings
Edith

Numerous studies have indicated the many physiological benefits of meditation, and the latest one comes from Harvard University. An eight week study conducted by Harvard researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) determined that meditation literally rebuilds the brains grey matter in just eight weeks. It’s the very first study to document that meditation produces changes over time in the brain’s grey matter. (1)

“Although the practice of meditation is associated with a sense of peacefulness and physical relaxation, practitioners have long claimed that meditation also provides cognitive and psychological benefits that persist throughout the day. This study demonstrates that changes in brain structure may underlie some of these reported improvements and that people are not just feeling better because they are spending time relaxing.
Sara Lazar of the MGH Psychiatric Neuroimaging Research Program and a Harvard Medical School Instructor in Psychology. The study involved taking magnetic resonance images (MRI) of the brain’s of 16 study participants two weeks prior to participating in the study. MRI images of the participants were also taken after the study was completed.

“The analysis of MR images, which focused on areas where meditation-associated differences were seen in earlier studies, found increased grey-matter density in the hippocampus, known to be important for learning and memory, and in structures associated with self-awareness, compassion and introspection.” 6For the study, participants engaged in meditation practices every day for approximately 30 minutes. These practices included focusing on audio recordings for guided meditation, non-judgmental awareness of sensations, feelings and state of mind.
“It is fascinating to see the brain’s plasticity and that, by practicing meditation, we can play an active role in changing the brain and can increase our well-being and quality of life. Other studies in different patient populations have shown that meditation can make significant improvements in a variety of symptoms, and we are now investigating the underlying mechanisms in the brain that facilitate this change.”
Britta Holzel, first author of the paper and a research fellow at MGH and Giessen University in Germany

How To Meditate

A common misconception about meditation is that you have to sit a certain way or do something in particular to achieve the various benefits that it can provide. All you have to do is place yourself in a position that is most comfortable to you. It could be sitting cross legged, lying down in a bed, sitting on a couch etc, it’s your choice.
Another common misconception about meditation is that you have to “try” to empty your mind. One important factor I enjoyed reading from the study mentioned above is that participants were engaged in “non-judgmental awareness of sensations, feelings and state of mind.”  When meditating, you shouldn’t try to “empty” your mind. Instead, try to let your thoughts, feelings and whatever emotions you are feeling at the time flow. Don’t judge them, just let them come and go and be at peace with it.

I also believe that meditation is a state of being/mind more than anything else. I feel that one does not have to sit down for half an hour and “meditate” so to speak in order to reap the benefits of it, or to be engaged in the practice itself.  One can be engaged in meditation while they are on a walk, for example, or the time they have right before they sleep. Throughout the day, one can resist judging their thoughts, letting them flow until they are no more, or just be in a constant state of peace and self awareness. Contrary to popular belief, there is more than one way to meditate.12038470_875606275841513_6742026420207416581_n

“You will have to understand one of the most fundamental things about meditation: that no technique leads to meditation. The old so-called techniques and the new scientific biofeedback techniques are the same as far as meditation is concerned. Meditation is not a byproduct of any technique. Meditation happens beyond mind. No technique can go beyond mind.” – Osho

Top 7 Tips for How to Be Happy

Dear Friends,

this is an good list that came to me these days to be shared and discussed :-). Some of this tips are rather simple and practical, easy to handle for every person. Others are definitely long term projects, to be started. For sure we need to stay with our eyes on the ball, if we want to create a sustainable happy life. Just like spiritual practice, is the creation of happiness closely connected to discipline (positive thinking and interpreting lifers challenges), perseverance (bringing the divine into human manifestation needs daily reminder of our true origin and inheritance) and relaxation (no emotional change can become clear for you, if you are all the time acting!! the feminine unveils her beauty in inner silence, in gentleness with yourself and when you are listening to your inner voice).

Top 7 Tips for How to Be Happy

why are happy people happy, finding happiness, find happiness, happiness tips, happiness quotesFinding Happiness went in search for the answer to the question “why are happy people happy?”

Here are our top tips for how to find true and lasting happiness in daily life:

1.) Let go of negativity.

  • Learn to forgive and forget.

  • See every challenge as an opportunity for further growth.

  • Express gratitude for what you have.

  • Be more optimistic about the future and your ability to accomplish life goals.

  • Open yourself up to success and embrace failures or mistakes that happen along the way.

  • Know that none of us are perfect, we are all here to entertain and be entertained.

  • Don’t worry about the little things. Take plenty of “worry vacations” where you train your mind not to worry for a certain lengths of time.

  • If you want to be more positive, surround yourself with positive energy and people. Nurture the positive relationships that you have, seeking out more of those relationships that help uplift you.

  • Accept and love yourself for the unique gifts and talents that you bring to life. Spend less time trying to please others and spend more time trying to please your higher self.

  • See the humor in life and in our experiences. Take life less seriously and learn to laugh at yourself.

2.) Serve and be kind to others.

  • Treat everyone with kindness. Not only does it help others to feel better, but you will notice that you too feel good after having a positive interaction with others.

  • Speak well of others. When you speak negatively of others you will attract more negativity to yourself, but when you speak positively of others, you will attract more positivity.

  • Truly listen to others. Be present and mindful to what others are really saying when they speak. Support them without bringing yourself into it.

  • Be careful with your words. Speak gentler, kinder, and wiser.

  • Respect others and their free will.

  • Put your trust in others and be trusted in return. Enjoy the sense of community and friendship that comes from this openness and faith in one another.

  • Work as part of a whole. See others as partners in your efforts. Unite your efforts with them to create a synergy more powerful than anything you could do alone.

  • Practice generosity and giving without expecting anything in return. Get involved with service opportunities and offer what you can to a greater cause.

  • Smile more– to family, to co-workers, to neighbors, to strangers– and watch it not only change how you feel but also how they feel too.

descarga3.) Live in the present.

  • Don’t replay negative events or worry about the future.

  • Accept and celebrate impermanence. Be grateful for your life, for each moment of every day. Observe the constant and natural flow of change that surrounds us, and your small yet important part in the natural, divine flow of life.

  • Observe yourself in the moment. Work on your reactions to outer circumstances and learn how to approach life harmoniously.

4.) Choose a healthy lifestyle.

  • Keep a daily routine. Wake up at the same time every morning, preferably early. Setting yourself to a natural biorhythm will make it easier to wake up and feel energized.

  • Get enough sleep. Proper sleep is linked to positive personality characteristics like optimism, improved self-esteem, and even problem solving.

  • Expose yourself to cold temperatures (especially first thing in the morning with perhaps a cold shower). It increases your circulation, helps minimize inflammation in the body, enhances weight loss, and energizes and invigorates you to start your day.

  • Turn off the TV. For every hour of TV you watch, you reduce 22 minutes of your life expectancy.

  • Eat properly. What you eat has a direct effect on your mood and energy levels. Eat plenty of organic, locally grown fruits and vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and dairy products that are both vitamin and mineral infused. Don’t overeat and try to practice healthy self-control.

  • Exercise daily to the point of sweating. It not only helps to purify the body, but also releases endorphins which help to prevent stress, relieve depression, and positively improve your mood.

  • Laugh more. Laughter is the best medicine. Like exercise, it releases endorphins that battle the negative effects of stress and promote a sense of well-being and joy.

  • Practice deep breathing and yoga. The body and mind are connected. Emotions affect the physical systems in the body, and the state of the body also affects the mind. By relaxing and releasing tension through the breath or yoga practice you feel more calm and centered throughout the day.

5.) Take care of your spirit.

  • Strive to always learn new things. Constantly expand your awareness and discover new ways of expressing your divine gifts.

  • Get creative. This will not only challenge you to learn new things, but will also help to keep your mind in a positive place. Practice living in the present moment and being a channel for the divine flow of creativity.

  • Practice meditation. Research has proven that even as little as 10 minutes of meditation a day can lead to physical changes in the brain that improve concentration and focus, calm the nervous system, and help you to become more kind and compassionate, and even more humorous. Then bring the joy and peace you receive from meditation into your daily life and activity.

  • Be honest. Telling the truth keeps you free inside, builds trust in relationships, and improves your will power and the ability to attract success.

  • Surrender to the Universe Divine and allow it to take care of the littlest things in life to the greatest and most important.

descarga (1)6. ) Be inwardly free.

  • Live minimally and simply. Often extravagant living brings more stress not more satisfaction.

  • De-clutter your home to de-clutter your mind. Clutter is an often unrecognized source of stress that promotes feelings of anxiety, frustration, distraction, and guilt. Feel good in your own home. Make it your sanctuary by keeping it clean, organized, and uplifting.

  • Go without certain things you think you need. Travel to new places where not everything is as easily accessible or readily available, and learn to appreciate what you have by expanding your world.

  • Take some time away from life’s complicated outer involvements to get to know your family, your neighbors, and your loved ones better; and to get to know yourself.

7.)  Reconnect with Nature.

  • Take some time every week to recharge your body battery. On the weekend, escape to nature or a place where you can feel peace in time for a fresh start to the work week.

  • Get outside whenever possible to breathe in the fresh air and feel the sunshine. Both of which studies have shown to have a positive effect on our health and our mood.

  • Take some time to be silent. Be silent and calm every night for at least 10 minutes (longer if possible) and again in the morning before rising. This will produce an unbreakable habit of inner happiness to help you meet challenges in life.

  • Observe the natural beauty that surrounds you and feel a sense of connection. Appreciate the details and miracles that can be found in nature.

Taking the Next Steps to Finding Happiness:

Ask yourself what makes you happy, and find ways to restructure your life so that you are able to do more of those things.

Then ask why you struggle to do the things that you know will make you happy. Why are you not yet happy? Why haven’t you taken the next steps to find your happiness? Why are you here? And what do you need to do to feel a sense of accomplishment in this life?

Visualize yourself happy, doing the things that will bring you inner and outer success in life and write down the things you need to do to create a Happiness Bucket List. Start with the little things you know you can do each day that will bring you joy. Then move on to accomplish greater and greater things on your happiness bucket list.

10 THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT TOXIC FAMILY MEMBERS

10-toxic-family-membersFamily is supposed to be our safe haven.
Sometimes, however, it’s the place where we find the deepest heartache.

Letting go of (or breaking up with) a toxic friend, boyfriend or girlfriend is one thing, and there’s plenty of advice out there for doing so, but what about letting go of a toxic family member?
Most of us are not in a position to just walk away, nor do we feel that we want to, or that it’s the right thing to do.  So what do we do when a family member is literally spoiling our lives with their toxicity?  How do we deal with our feelings of obligation, confusion, betrayal and heartache?
First and foremost, you must accept the fact that not everyone’s family is healthy or available for them to lean on, to call on, or to go home to.  Not every family tie is built on the premise of mutual respect, love and support.  Sometimes “family” simply means that you share a bloodline.  That’s all.  Some family members build us up and some break us down.

imagesSecond, you must understand that a toxic family member may be going through a difficult stage in their lives.  They may be ill, chronically worried, or lacking what they need in terms of love and emotional support.  Such people need to be listened to, supported, and cared for (although whatever the cause of their troubles, you may still need to protect yourself from their toxic behavior at times).
The key thing to keep in mind is that every case of dealing with a toxic family member is a little different, but in any and every case there are some universal principles we need to remember, for our own sake:

  1. They may not be an inherently bad person, but they’re not the right person to be spending time with every day. – Not all toxic family relationships are agonizing and uncaring on purpose.  Some of them involve people who care about you – people who have good intentions, but are toxic because their needs and way of existing in the world force you to compromise yourself and your happiness. And as hard as it is, we have to distance ourselves enough to give ourselves space to live.  You simply can’t ruin yourself on a daily basis for the sake of someone else.  You have to make your well-being a priority.  Whether that means spending less time with someone, loving a family member from a distance, letting go entirely, or temporarily removing yourself from a situation that feels painful – you have every right to leave and create some healthy space for yourself.
  2. Toxic people often hide cleverly behind passive aggression. – Passive aggressive behavior takes many forms but can generally be described as a non-verbal aggression that manifests in negative behavior.  Instead of openly expressing how they feel, someone makes subtle, annoying gestures directed at you.  Instead of saying what’s actually upsetting them, they find small and petty ways to take jabs at you until you pay attention and get upset.  This is obviously a toxic relationship situation.  It shows this person is set on not communicating openly and clearly with you.  Keep in mind that most sane human beings will feel no reason to be passive-aggressive toward you if they feel safe expressing themselves.  In other words, they won’t feel a need to hide behind passive aggression if they feel like they won’t be judged or criticized for what they are thinking.  So make it clear to your family members that you accept them for who they are, and that they aren’t necessarily responsible or obligated to your ideas and opinions, but that you’d love to have their support.  If they care about you, they will likely give it, or at least compromise in some way.  And if they refuse to, and continue their passive aggression, you may have no choice but to create some of that space discussed in point #1.  (Read Emotional Blackmail.)
  3. They will try to bully you into submission if you let them. – We always hear about schoolyard bullies, but the biggest bullies are often toxic family members.  And bullying is never OK.  Period!  There is no freedom on Earth that gives someone the right to assault who you are as a person.  Sadly, some people just won’t be happy until they’ve pushed your ego to the ground and stomped on it.  What you have to do is have the nerve to stand up for yourself.  Don’t give them leeway.  Nobody has the power to make you feel small unless you give them that power.  It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but just as much to stand up to your family and friends.  Sometimes bullying comes from the most unlikely places.  Be cognizant of how the people closest to you treat you, and look out for the subtle jabs they throw.  When necessary, confront them – whatever it takes to give yourself the opportunity to grow into who you really are.
  4. Pretending their toxic behavior is OK is NOT OK. – If you’re not careful, toxic family members can use their moody behavior to get preferential treatment, because… well… it just seems easier to quiet them down than to listen to their grouchy rhetoric.  Don’t be fooled.  Short-term ease equals long-term pain for you in a situation like this.  Toxic people don’t change if they are being rewarded for not changing.  Decide this minute not to be influenced by their behavior.  Stop tiptoeing around them or making special pardons for their continued belligerence.  Constant drama and negativity is never worth putting up with.  If someone in your family over the age 21 can’t be a reasonable, reliable, respectful adult on a regular basis, it’s time to speak up and stand your ground.no.toxic
  5. You do not have to neglect yourself just because they do.Practice self-care every day.  Seriously, if you’re forced to live or work with a toxic person, then make sure you get enough alone time to rest and recuperate.  Having to play the role of a ‘focused, rational adult’ in the face of toxic moodiness can be exhausting, and if you’re not careful, the toxicity can infect you.  Toxic family members can keep you up at night as you constantly question yourself: “Am I doing the right thing?  Am I really so terrible that they despise me so much?  I can’t BELIEVE she did that!  I’m so hurt!!” Thoughts like these can keep you agonizing for weeks, months, or even years.  Sometimes this is the goal of a toxic family member, to drive you mad and make you out to be the crazy one.  Because oftentimes they have no idea why they feel the way they do, and they can’t see beyond their own emotional needs… hence their relentless toxic communication and actions.  And since you can’t control what they do, it’s important to take care of yourself so you can remain centered, feeling healthy and ready to live positively in the face of negativity when you must –mindfulness, meditation, prayer and regular exercise work wonders!
  6. If their toxic behavior becomes physical, it’s a legal matter that must be addressed. – If you’ve survived the wrath of a physical abuser in your family, and you tried to reconcile things… If you forgave, and you struggled, and even if the expression of your grief had you succumb to outbursts of toxic anger… If you spent years hanging on to the notions of trust and faith, even after you knew in your heart that those beautiful intangibles, upon which love is built and sustained, would never be returned… And especially, if you stood up as the barrier between an abuser and someone else, and took the brunt of the abuse in their place… You are a HERO!  But now it’s time to be the hero of your future.  Enough is enough!  If someone is physically abusive, they are breaking the law and they need to deal with the consequences of their actions.
  7. Although it’s hard, you can’t take their toxic behavior personally. – It’s them, not you.  KNOW this.  Toxic family members will likely try to imply that somehow you’ve done something wrong.  And because the ‘feeling guilty’ button is quite large on many of us, even the implication that we might have done something wrong can hurt our confidence and unsettle our resolve.  Don’t let this happen to you.  Remember, there is a huge amount of freedom that comes to you when you take nothing personally.  Most toxic people behave negatively not just to you, but to everyone they interact with.  Even when the situation seems personal – even if you feel directly insulted – it usually has nothing to do with you.  What they say and do, and the opinions they have, are based entirely on their own self-reflection.  (Angel and I discuss this in more detail in the “Self-Love” and “Relationships” chapters of 1,000 Little Things Happy, Successful People Do Differently.)
  8. Hating them for being toxic only brings more toxicity into your life. – As Gandhi once said, “An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.”  Regardless of how despicable a family member has acted, never let hate build in your heart.  Fighting hatred with hatred only hurts you more.  When you decide to hate someone you automatically begin digging two graves: one for your enemy and one for yourself.  Hateful grudges are for those who insist that they are owed something.  Forgiveness, on the other hand, is for those who are strong enough and smart enough to move on.  After all, the best revenge is to be unlike the person who hurt you.  The best revenge is living well, in a way that creates peace in your heart.
  9. People can change, and some toxic family relationships can be repaired in the long run. – When trust is broken, which happens in nearly every family relationship at some point, it’s essential to understand that it can be repaired, provided both people are willing to do the hard work of self-growth.  In fact, it’s at this time, when it feels like the solid bedrock of your relationship has crumbled into dust, that you’re being given an opportunity to shed the patterns and dynamics with each other that haven’t been serving you.  It’s painful work and a painful time, and the impulse will be walk away, especially if you believe that broken trust cannot be repaired.  But if you understand that trust levels rise and fall over the course of a lifetime you’ll be more likely to find the strength to hang in, hang on, and grow together.  But it does take two.  You can’t do it alone.  (Read Loving What Is.)
  10. Sadly, sometimes all you can do is let go for good. – All details aside, this is your life.  You may not be able to control all the things toxic family members do to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them in the long run.  You can decide not to let their actions and opinions continuously invade your heart and mind.  And above all, you can decide whom to walk beside into tomorrow, and whom to leave behind today.  In a perfect world we would always be able to fix our relationships with toxic family members, but as you know the world isn’t perfect.  Put in the effort and do what you can to keep things intact, but don’t be afraid to let go and do what’s right for YOU when you must.

30 Ways to Practice Self-Love and Be Good to Yourself

QoR8Bv1S2SEqH6UcSJCA_Tea2Hey you! Did you know that you’re very special? There is no other person in this world like you. You deserve to be loved not only by those around you but by the most important person in your life — YOU. Practicing self-love can be challenging for many of us, especially in times when we face serious challenges. It’s not about being self-absorbed or narcissistic, it’s about getting in touch with ourselves, our well-being and our happiness. We practice self-love so we can push through our limiting beliefs and live a life that truly shines.

So do yourself a favor, take a deep breath, give yourself a little hug and start practicing the following:

  1. Start each day by telling yourself something really positive. How well you handled a situation, how lovely you look today. Anything that will make you smile.
  2. Fill your body with food and drink that nourishes it and makes it thrive.
  3. Move that gorgeous body of yours every single day and learn to love the skin you’re in. You can’t hate your way into loving yourself.
  4. Don’t believe everything you think. There is an inner critic inside of us trying to keep us small and safe. The downside is this also stops us from living a full life.
  5. Surround yourself with people who love and encourage you. Let them remind you just how amazing you are.
  6. Stop the comparisons. There is no one on this planet like you, so you cannot fairly compare yourself to someone else. The only person you should compare yourself to is you.
  7. End all toxic relationships. Seriously. Anyone who makes you feel anything less than amazing doesn’t deserve to be a part of your life.
  8. Celebrate your wins no matter how big or small. Pat yourself on the back and be proud of what you have achieved.
  9. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. It’s incredible the feeling we get when we realize we have achieved something we didn’t know or think we could do before.
  10. Embrace and love the things that make you different. This is what makes you special.
  11. Realize that beauty cannot be defined. It is what you see it as. Don’t let any of those Photoshopped magazines make you feel like your body isn’t perfect. Even those models don’t look like that in real life.
  12. Take time out to calm your mind every day. Breathe in and out, clear your mind of your thoughts and just be.
  13. Follow your passion. You know that thing that gets you so excited but scares you at the same time. The thing you really want to do but have convinced yourself it won’t work. You should go do that!
  14. Be patient but persistent. Self-love is ever evolving. It’s something that needs to be practiced daily but can take a lifetime to master. So be kind and support yourself through the hard times.
  15. Be mindful of what you think, feel and want. Live your life in ways that truly reflect this.
  16. Treat others with love and respect. It makes us feel better about ourselves when we treat others the way we hope to be treated. That doesn’t mean everybody will always repay the favor, but that’s their problem not yours.
  17. Find something to be grateful for every day. It’s inevitable that you are going to have your down days. This is fine and very human of you. It’s especially important on these days to find at least one thing you are grateful for as it helps to shift your mind and energy around what’s going on.
  18. Reach out to family, friends, healers, whomever you need to help you through the tough times. You are not expected to go through them alone.
  19. Learn to say no. Saying no sometimes doesn’t make you a bad person, it makes you a smart person.
  20. Forgive yourself. You know that thing you did one time (or maybe a few times) that made you feel bad, embarrassed, ashamed? It’s time to let that go. You can’t change the things you have done in the past but you can control your future. Look at it as a learning experience and believe in your ability to change.
  21. Write it down. Head swimming with so many thoughts it’s giving you a headache? Write them all down on a piece of paper, no matter how crazy, mean, sad, or terrifying they are. Keep it in a journal, tear it up, burn it, whatever you need to do to let it go.
  22. Turn off and inwards. Grab a cup of your favorite tea, coffee, wine, whatever your choice of drink, and sit down for a few minutes on your own. No TV or distractions, just you. Think about the wonderful things that are happening in your life right now, what your big dreams are and how you can make them happen.
  23. Give up the need for approval from others. “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.” – Dita Von Teese
  24. Be realistic. There is no person on this earth that is happy every single moment of every single day. You know why? Because we are all human. We make mistakes, we feel emotions (good and bad) and this is OK. Allow yourself to be human.
  25. Get creative and express yourself in whatever way you like. Painting, writing, sculpting, building, music, whatever takes your fancy, and make sure you leave your inner critic at the door. There are no right ways to be creative.
  26. Let go of past trauma and wounds. This can be a really tough one and it may be one of those times you need to turn to others for support. The truth is though, when we let go of things that have happened to us it’s almost like a weight is lifted off our shoulders. We don’t have to carry that around with us anymore. We deserve better.
  27. Find your happy place. Where’s the one place you feel totally at ease, calm, happy, positive, high on life? Go to that place when you are going through hard times, or imagine yourself being there. Think about how it feels, what it smells like, what it looks like.
  28. The next time you are feeling happy and on top of the world make a list of your best qualities and accomplishments. It may sound a little corny, but it can be a wonderful reminder when you are having a day that’s less than amazing.
  29. Get in touch with your inner dialogue. If it’s anything less than loving, encouraging and supportive, it’s time to make a change. You deserve to be spoken to in the same way you would speak to your best friend, sister, brother, daughter, or son.
  30. Have fun! Get out there and do the things that light your fire. Enjoy them, enjoy being you and enjoy your incredible life.

I feel better already 🙂
